Who: Any and all devotees. What: RVAP is hosting a food drive to serve a winter shelter for the homeless organized by Pittsburgh Mercy’s Operation Safety Net (https://www.pittsburghmercy.org/pdf/Winter_Shelter_FINAL_11-10-16.pdf). Operation Safety Net is currently serving about 170 men and women on average per night. All collected items will be donated to Operation Safety Net in celebration of Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday.
For the food drive, we are collecting cash donations (with which we can buy the food) or food donations of any amount of the food items listed below. Please donate ONLY items listed below:
- Breakfast Bars
- Snack Bars
- Fruit Cups, Pudding, Applesauce (in individual size cups)
- Cheese or Peanut Butter Crackers (in individual size packets)
- Trail Mix, Nuts, Dried Fruit (in individual size packets)
- Fruit Snacks
- Boxed Drinks/Juices, Bottled Water
Non-food items listed below are also acceptable donations. Please donate ONLY items listed below:
When: Last day for donating items is February 28th, 2017
Where: Drop off all donations at the Ashrama (417 Beatty Road, Monroeville, PA 15146) during temple’s open hours (Saturdays and Sundays 4-6 PM, Tuesdays 7:15-10 PM) or on Special Event Days.
If these times are not convenient, please leave the donations on the porch of the Ashrama (417 Beatty Road) and send an email to ramakrishna.vedanta.pitt@gmail.com detailing the donations left on the porch.
