(Wednesday, January 1st 2020)

Ramakrishna Vedanta Ashrama Pittsburgh wishes you all a Happy Kalpataru Day and Happy New Year! Thank you for supporting your Ashrama through attending, volunteering, donating (cash and goods) and, at the same time making the retreats and the Ashrama celebrations lively with your presence and devotion. May Sri Ramakrishna, the Holy Mother, and Swami Vivekananda guide you in all of your activities and your journey to freedom!
Kalpataru

On January 1st, 1886, Sri Ramakrishna, terminally ill, felt a little better and came out to the garden in the Cossipore house and blessed the assembled devotees, saying “I bless you all. Be illumined.” The devotees assembled there instantly received ineffable bliss, each in their own way. He had, as it were, become the Kalpataru (the divine wish-fulfilling tree).

January 1st is celebrated as the Kalpataru Day.
