Kalpataru Day and New Year
Kalpataru Day
Wednesday, January 1
Ashrama will be open for visiting and meditation from
11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
On January 1st, 1886, Sri Ramakrishna, terminally ill, felt a little better and came out to the garden in the Cossipore house and blessed the assembled devotees, saying “I bless you all. Be illumined.” The devotees assembled there instantly received ineffable bliss, each in their own way. He had, as it were, become the Kalpataru (the divine wish-fulfilling tree). January 1st is celebrated as Kalpataru Day.
